Welcome

Whether you're churched or unchurched, skeptical or religious, we want you to know that you are welcome here. We often say "you do not have to believe in order to belong and explore the claims of Jesus upon your life."

We understand that visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating. So it’s our commitment to walk you through each component of the worship service so no one feels like an outsider. There will be no obscure, tribal language. No ‘in-house’ moments.

Here is our request: Come 6 times.

It is hard to evaluate any church or community on the basis of one - or even two - visits. God calls us into relationship with Christ, and that is what we want our church-family to be about: magnifying the beauty of God in worship, discovering His love in community, and displaying His kingdom in our daily lives. Over the time of your visits you’ll have the opportunity to attend a newcomer lunch, be invited to a community group, and learn more about Iron Works.

Why & How we worship

We are all worshippers. It is what we were made for.

"So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering" (Eugene Peterson on Romans 12:1).

Our worship is liturgical, which simply means a defined order of worship. Our services have a gospel rhythm: God calls us, we respond. He speaks, we listen. He renews our relationship with him, so we are empowered to have new relationships. He saves, we sing his praises. This gospel rhythm shapes our every day lives, shaping us to live before the face of God. We celebrate the Lord's Supper weekly as God invites us to come and fine rest in him. Here's a recent order of worship

We do take an offering every week, as our new relationship with God enables and empowers us to have a new relationship with all our possessions. But this is specifically for our church-family. So if this is your first time worshiping with us, let the plate pass you by and just be our guest.

Our music is joyful, substantial, and honest.  Every one of us comes from a different place whenever we worship. Some are joyful, others hurting, others distracted, but all of us, in one way or another, are hurting due to the brokenness in our lives and desperate for renewal. So the songs we sing cover a range of emotion, as they help us approach God and hear his word.

kids @ Iron Works

Children matter, not because they are the church of tomorrow, but because they are part of the church today. We do a number of things to teach them the story of God:

  • Nursery (up to 3 year olds)

  • Kid's Church (4 year olds - 5th grade)

  • Doodle Clipboards (available by our kids church area)

Parking & Directions

If you are unfamiliar with the borough, you will want to be mindful of the network of one way streets as you make your way to our church building. You will also want to note that West Union is a one way street (that flows west).

On Sundays, all metered parking in West Chester is free. Iron Works has a small parking lot for visitors, young families or those with special needs. There is ample parking on the street and in nearby parking garages, including the Justice Center Parking Garage (off Market Street and the Bicentennial Garage (at 20 South New Street).

If you and your family live nearby and choose to walk over you are able to put strollers in a side room.

We are easily accessible via public transit, as we are 2 blocks away from the West Chester Transportation Center. Check SEPTA for relevant transportation schedules.
