Vespers Service

Jonah Bible Study Graphic.001.jpeg

Come, join us for a time of worship, prayer and teaching this coming Sunday evening, from 4:30-6:30pm. There'll be childcare and snacks.

Perhaps the idea of a vespers service is new to you, so you're wondering what is a vespers service? Vespers is an old English word for sunset, and many Christians have gathered to worship in the evening. So by our use of Vespers, we're nodding to an ongoing Chrisitan practice that's existed for centuries.

If you've joined us for our morning worship gatherings, you'll find some similarities and differences between the two. We'll have a highly participatory liturgy, as we really want to get used to the gospel rhythm that charactizes our worship services. But we will not celebrate the Lord's Supper, we'll sing fewer songs, and there'll be a greater emphasis/variety of prayer.

Perhaps what I am most excited about is exploring what the Old Testament prophet of Jonah means for Iron Works, as this particular book helps us see what it means to be sent to love people, places and things.

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday,
- Pastor Robbie
